All over the world, especially in Europe and the United States, Christmas trees are the most popular and lovely decorations for Christmas.
Christmas tree export is an important and a big industry which grows every year. Each year thousands of people flock to North America to pick the perfect Christmas tree. As the demand from European and Chinese people increases more people find their way to put their Christmas trees on the exporting list. To be part of this industry you have to fulfill certain government requirements. Before you take your Christmas trees for export you have to follow certain procedures:
As craftsmanship improves, artificial Christmas trees are becoming more and more realistic. Although most of these Artificial Christmas trees are made of plastics and other raw materials, the pine cones decorated on the trees are often plant products, so phytosanitary requirements are still required to be implemented in accordance with the regulatory requirements for bamboo, wood and grass products before export.
1. Registration, classification management

The customs implements registration and classification management of outbound bamboo, wood and grass products manufacturers, and implements risk analysis and classification management for outbound bamboo, wood and grass products. According to whether the enterprise is registered, the operation and credit status of the quality management system, the risk level of the product, the country to be exported to, the relevant overseas violation notification, and the daily supervision situation, the customs will conduct batch quarantine on the bamboo, wood, and grass products that exit the country. Batch-by-batch quarantine inspections will be carried out on outbound bamboo, wood and grass products of enterprises that have not obtained registration qualifications.
Determine the quarantine plan based on the following elements:
(1) The bilateral quarantine agreement signed between my country and the country or region to be exported;
(2) The phytosanitary regulations of the country or region to be exported;
(3) my country’s regulations on exit phytosanitary;
(4) Quarantine requirements specified in the trade contract.
2. Do on-site quarantine:
During the on-site quarantine, the main purpose is to check the certificate of goods, check the environment, transportation tools, etc., to check whether the products and their packaging materials contain live insects, borers or other live harmful organisms. The samples of goods involving harmful organisms and the detected harmful organisms shall be sampled and sent to the laboratory for quarantine and identification.

3. Issue the certificate and release:
If the outbound artificial Christmas tree with plant products passes the customs quarantine, relevant certificates will be issued in accordance with relevant regulations; if it fails to pass the quarantine, it will be released after passing the treatment such as pest control and reprocessing; if there is no effective treatment method, it will not be allowed to leave the country .
Although a small pine cone may seem inconspicuous, enterprises should not take it lightly, and must standardize the quality management of production, processing, storage and other links, strictly implement the regulations on exit phytosanitary, and avoid the detection of harmful organisms and cause losses to the enterprise. It even affects the export of the entire industry.
In addition, enterprises should also pay attention to whether the content of heavy metals, formaldehyde and other harmful substances in artificial Christmas trees meets the requirements of the country or region to be exported.
